If you work with sound you need this. Period. Every format imaginable. Simple interface. Most importantly: works as advertised.
Title says it all but I just tried to convert FLAC files to m4a and it worked on a few of the tracks (where previous versions had continually failed) but failed like before on others. Then after trying to convert the tracks that were not properly converted it started the same memory leak that occurred in the previous version. Once I have consistant positive results I will rescind my derogatory rating of DO NOT PURCHASE until this is a working program. Also as a side note it would be great if it wouldnt delete the tag information during the conversion process, at a minimum leave something tagalicious can grab onto.
I bought this and converted 40 mp4 files, extracting the mp3 in a few minutes or less. I looked at one email and it was done! Very easy, start it, drag files or folders over on it and tell it what you want to extract and where. Thats it. If you need an app like this, this one works just fine.
I originally purchased this app many years ago to convert my System 7 (!) Eudora sound files to use in Tiger OS and it converted all my files flawlessly. I have since converted many other file formats quickly and easily. The developer has always been very quick to respond with helpful solutions whenever I have had questions. In fact, just today, I received an answer to a question within 1 hour; such a quick response is rare these days. If you work with different audio formats, you need this app!
This program is good. Buying it from the App store is a big improvement over the old licensing method, which seemed to forgot its registration and get screwed up too easily. However the program currently has a bug. I was trying to convert a bunch of .caf files to .mp3, and it would crash. Then I changed it to convert to .aif files, and it worked, but only sorta. The files were somehow non-typical. Some programs would play them some would not. Once I opened the files in quicktime and exported them as .aif they were fine, but this defeats the purpose of a batch converter. I have no idea what is wrong with the aif files it was creating. Bias Peak hates them. LiveCode hates them. But Quicktime and Soundtrack Pro opened them fine and convert them fine. However, overall, this program is still good and has saved a lot of time in the past. The app store version is a good buy.
the conversion of the caf file to a mp3 file failed Waste of money for me because it didnt work.
As a professional Final Cut Pro video editor, its essential to the job that you can quickly, consistently convert tons of high quality audio files to a specific file format(usually .wav or aiff) with minimum time spent doing so and complete quality control. Ive done a descent amount of conversions in this app and so far it looks like the miracle app Ive been looking for and even considered creating myself. It simply does the job with plenty of specific settings for quality and type. GREAT!
Yes, it is really easy to use but it keep asking me to pay! already paid in appstore!!!!!!!!!! and it doesnt support multi-track WAV format.. conversion always fail..
couldnt get it to convert my SD2 files to any other format. Waste of Money
Bought this app for the sole purpose of converting .xm files to a more readily listenable format (mp3, aiff, or wav). When I tried to do just that, all the program gave me was a cryptic error message. Cool. Great waste of $10. Thanks for nothing.
I usually do not leave bad reviews but all attempts to convert simple AIFC files into MP3 failed and the output is all mangled. I do not recommend buying this software.
I needed to change the sample rate etc. of a batch of wavs. I setup the conversion options, dragged my files into it and it complained about every one because it cant "convert wav to wav". Not a great user experience I thought but Im sure if I just change the file format back to "Same as source file" then it wont complain and Ill be on my way… there is no option in the drop down for "Same as source file" so once youve picked a file format you cant change it back. Ok Ill just restart the app I thought… nope it retains the last options used so now I have no way of changing the conversion options back to "Same as source file" and I have a $9.99 software equivelant of a paper weight. If an update fixes this I will come back and review properly but as of now the app is non-functional.
Wouldnt convert an AIFC file saved from DJay app. The file plays fine in Itunes and on DJay but wouldnt convert to any other format.
I bought this in desperation one night to convert thousands of sound designer 2 (sd2) files to wav or aif. In the documentation it lists sd2 as a supported format. I tried several times with different options but always received error messages. The only reason I gave this two stars is that I sometimes use this program to quickly convert to mp3. The developer does not return my emails so that is a big NO for me. Dont buy this app, spend more money on something that works and has the customer service to back it up!
The developer has abandoned this application, which is unfortunate because I spent good money on it. It crashes constantly to the point of being unusable on the latest Mac OS (10.8.4). I wish the developer would stand behind this application and at least keep it functional as the OSs get updated but I guess the independents dont care about what happens after the sale anymore. I will look for an alternative supported by a normal company and think twice about buying from independent developers in the future.
I had an older version of the software that contained a feature which let you amplify the native volume out the output file, which I loved, but it was a "Registered" feature. So rather than pay the money for a license, I checked the App Store to see if I can download it that way and have a copy attached to my Apple ID for future downloads. It was twice as expensive, but was the full version. Okay. So I bought it. And the features I wanted activated from the previous version were no longer present in the App. Turns out Id have to still purchase a license within the older version of the app which would be stored on my computer as a file and would talk to the app, giving it the "OK" to enable the features I wanted. When I try to purchase it (again) that way, it continuously fails to connect to the server. I contacted the developer several times and explained this. He asked for my apple ID, which I gave him, and then I never heard from him again, despite repeated attempts to address this issue. So I paid twice as much for the App, to end up with the exact same thing I had in the first place, and am now completely unable to use the older version as well. Im giving this 1 star. If the developer gets back to me and rectifies this issue, Ill change my review and rating. The app has potential, but there is no support whatsoever.
This was a great app when it was actively maintained. I used it to convert MP3s to lower bit rate WAV files needed for an older voice mail system. However, the conversion for many WAV formats stopped working and based on the date of the last update, this app is apparently no longer updated. Im not sure its worth $9.99
I have never deleted an app so fast
I had a simple task of converting from MP3 to OGG this worked flawlessly on Mavericks
